English Premier League Week 33 Preview

English Premier League Week 33 Preview

The English Premier League is coming to a thrilling conclusion and league leaders Manchester City could put the agony of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals behind them by clinching the Premier League trophy against arch-rivals Manchester United.

Undoubtedly the highlight of Week 33 are the local derbies on the cards with Liverpool clashing with rivals Everton opening the round before the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Everton v Liverpool
Over 3 Goals Scored ($2.35)

A cracking fixture to start week 33 as Everton host the Reds at Goodison Park.

With the Reds coming off one of their best performances of the season putting Manchester City to the sword in a 3-0 demolition in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, they’ll have no issues staying motivated for the derby.

Liverpool are two-points behind Manchester United, in third spot and a victory against Everton would put the pressure on United, who face City at Old Trafford on Sunday. Liverpool have dominated their neighbours, winning four of their last five clashes.

Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp will more than likely keep spearhead Mo Salah in cotton wool with the return clash in the UCL scheduled for the middle of next week, leaving their star in a race against time to be fit. Liverpool can book themselves a place in the Champions League for next season with a victory against Everton, with Chelsea out of contention in fifth spot.

The Reds are good value to easily account for their neighbours and take another step to qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Watford v Burnley
Burnley to win ($3.30)

Watford have struggled against the marquee clubs this season and after being trounced 5-0 by the Reds, the Hornets did an admirable job clawing to a 2-all draw with Bournemouth.

Burnley are enjoying a good run this season and occupy seventh spot on the EPL table and are only five points off Arsenal.

The Clarets head into this fixture with three straight victories but Watford are unbeaten in their last six games at Vicarage Road. The Hornets have built a strong reputation at home winning four and drawing two.

Burnley have been tight in defence away from home, only conceding 16 goals in their last 17 games and they are worth consideration to win.

Brighton v Huddersfield
Brighton to win ($1.80)

Socceroos teammates Mat Ryan and Aaron Mooy will come up against each other when Brighton plays host to Huddersfield.

The Terriers have struggled of late and are winless in their last four matches and they find themselves battling to stay in the top flight for next season.

The Seagulls have been doing well for themselves in the top flight and they should be enjoying another turn in the top flight next season. Mat Ryan has been outstanding for Brighton this season and the Socceroo remains a key man between the posts for the Seagulls.

This is a tough match to analyse from a betting perspective as both clubs need to be playing for the win

Bournemouth v Crystal Palace
Draw ($3.30)

Bournemouth have enjoyed a respectable season and are coming off a 2-all draw with the Hornets last week. The Cherries have had an inconsistent season but have only lost one of their last eight fixtures at Vitality Stadium.

Crystal Palace are battling relegation and will need nothing less than a victory to stay in the hunt for Premier League football next season. The Eagles are coming off a 2-0 win over Huddersfield but have lost five of their last six fixtures.

The Cherries have a disappointing home record and Eddie Howe will need to make do without a number of key players including Tyrone Mings and Junior Stanislas.

It’s tough to imagine the Eagles taking advantage of Bournemouth’s home record and an entertaining draw is a likely outcome.

Stoke City V Tottenham Hotspur
Son, Heung-Min to score ($4.50)

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last eleven matches on the road and Stoke are battling to stay in the top flight.

Spurs are currently eight points ahead of Chelsea, who look to have given up on the possibility of Champions League football. Tottenham can confirm their place in Europe’s premier competition with victory this weekend at Britannia Stadium.

Tottenham broke through for their first ever Premier League win at Stamford Bridge last week and Son Heung-Min has been doing a fine job, scoring goals for fun in the absence of Harry Kane.

The Spurs will win this game with complete ease and expect Son to get on the score sheet.

Leicester City v Newcastle United
Leicester City to win ($1.90)

Leicester will enjoy playing in front of their home fans when they host Newcastle United on the weekend. The Foxes are undefeated in their last four games and have the eighth best home record in the top flight.

Leicester currently sit in eighth place and the Magpies have struggled away from their home ground this season.

The last time these two sides met at St James’ Park, the clash went down to the wire, with Leicester getting across the line 3-2 in an exciting victory.

Newcastle may have won their last two fixtures but the form of the Foxes at home is too good to ignore. Expect James Vardy to get on the scoresheet as Leicester should be able to record a comfortable win at home.

West Bromwich Albion v Swansea City
Swansea to win ($3.20)

Darren Moore takes the reigns for the first time since the departure of Alan Pardew earlier in the week. The Baggies are facing the prospect of relegation and it will be a tough ask for Moore to get them to respond against the Swans. They face the unlikely prospect of having to win all of their remaining fixtures to have an unlikely chance of top-flight football next season.

Swansea are not out of the woods this season and the Swans sit three points above the relegation zone.  The Baggies will be hoping they can count on the return of Daniel Sturridge, Gareth Barry and Nacer Chadli while the Swans are set to be without Jordan Ayew after the midfielder saw red against Huddersfield.

Swansea are good value in the market place to get on the score sheet and save their season from relegation.

Manchester City v Manchester United
City to win ($1,85)

Manchester City would love nothing more than to clinch the title against their arch-rivals at Old Trafford.

However, the loss to City has put a spanner in the works with Pep Guardiola’s side completely outplayed by Liverpool, who recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory. Pep has a decision to make on risking his key star against United, with the return UCL clash with the Reds on the horizon.

Yaya Toure could be called upon for some game time at Old Trafford with the likes of David Silva to be in cotton wool for the clash with Liverpool.

Jose Mourhino would be enjoying the situation with the chance to cause one of his old rivals some issues. United will look to borrow a few of the tactics from Liverpool’s win over City and pressure the Citizens into making mistakes at the back. There is sure to be major fireworks at Old Trafford but I’m tipping City to write another piece of history at Old Trafford with a close win.

Arsenal v Southampton
OVER 3 GOALS ($2)

Arsenal have been rocked by a serious knee injury to Henrikh Mkhitaryan but the Gunners were able to get a much-needed win against CSKA Moscow in the Europa League.

Arsene Wenger’s side are banking on Europa League success to ensure they remain in contention for Champions League football.

Arsenal have struggled at times this season and there could be changes in the works at the Emirates if the Gunners fail to qualify for the UCL. Southampton are fighting relegation and have struggled to hit the back of the net this season.

The Saints will have their hands full dealing with the threat posed by Welbeck and Aubameyang.

The former Dortmund striker will be fresh having been cup-tied for the midweek Europa fixture. Arsenal have a wealth of options available in their squad and should have no issues recording an easy win against the Saints.

Chelsea V West Ham
No Bet

Chelsea will be hurting from their first loss to rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. With Antonio Conte increasingly likely to exit Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea have begun shopping for a new manager.

The Blues will be wanting to bury last week’s disappointing result against Tottenham with another derby against West Ham. Chelsea may have to settle for fifth place and the prospect of Europa League football unless there is a major turn in their fortunes.

West Ham have been able to trouble Chelsea in recent times but on paper, the Blues should have the advantage. There’s no real value from a betting perspective and it’s worth sitting back and enjoying the show.
