Daily Racing Tips – Monday, April 30

Best Bets
Grafton: Race 1 (11:55am)
No. 2 Lauderdale

Lauderdale is seeking a third-consecutive win this afternoon and finds himself in a very winnable race at Grafton. The Rothesay gelding steadily built to the task this time in, but he has continued to improve upon stepping out in trip and has taken out his two most-recent starts over 1710m and 2220m with relative ease, both at Grafton. This race is no harder and with regular hoop Clayton Gallagher in the saddle, he will be extremely difficult to beat.

Sale: Race 3 (2:00pm)
No. 7 Kapuziner

Godolphin will send just one horse to the races today and Kapuziner can make it a 100% strike rate in Race 3 at Sale. The Reset gelding resumed this time for a credible fifth over 1300m at Sandown on March 28th, before hitting the line well for fourth in a 1500m race at Mornington last time out. He will be rock-hard fit ahead of his third-up assignment this afternoon and an increase in trip looks ideal. Jockey Damien Lane has plenty of options from the rails draw and with natural improvement, Kapuziner will be tough to beat.

Best Each Way Bet
Grafton: Race 5 (2:15pm)
No. 4 One Mansini

One Mansini has not been seen at the races in 2018, but she is a horse that typically comes to hand quickly and can run a big race at Grafton this afternoon. The daughter of Nicconi has raced in City company throughout her entire career so far and will resume with a credible record of two wins and six minors. This is a big step back in class from the races that she was contesting in summer and she is drawn ideally in barrier 4. At the time of publish, you can take around $9 for One Mansini and that does look to be a touch of overs.

Best Roughie
Sale: Race 8 (4:30pm)
No. 5 Bed Talk

Bed Talk will step out amongst a smart field at Sale this afternoon, but he has been racing well this time in and is worth consideration for a bet at current $17 odds. The Poet’s Voice gelding was a dominant winner at his second-up assignment over 1000m at Mornington and has continued to race well through his three subsequent starts. 60kgs isn’t an issue as he has lugged the weight in all five of his starts this time and he can find a position close to the pace from barrier 7.
