Redzel Returns to Winning Form in the Challenge Stakes

Redzel returned to winning form with a dominate display, powering away to win the Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Randwick this afternoon.

The son of Snitzel was determined to cement his standing as the best sprinter in the land and return to the winner’s stall, after falling on the line in the Newmarket in his last start.

The Everest winner ran a sizzling time to come over the top of Jungle Edge ($8.50) and Super Too ($2.30)

Redzel got out of the gate okay but Super Too showed lots of early speed to lead from Jungle Edge, with the star sprinter taking a position on the rail in third and Takedown trailing out deep.

Super Too got out early at a cracking speed and jumped five lengths clear, with Jungle Edge and Redzel well strung out.

Jockey Kerrin Mcevoy was content to sit back as Super Too got out to a fast start.

Moving into the straight Redzel was able to cut in the margin quickly and power past with Jungle Edge coming in second on the line and Super Too scrambling for third.

The win means that the Sydney sprinter smashes through the $8million barrier in prizemoney and remains seventh on the all-time list behind Winx.

Redzel will head into the TJ Smith Stakes as the early favourite at $3.60
