Levendi ($4) has prevailed with an exciting win the in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens this afternoon.
Jumping well from the gates, jockey Mark Zahra the race favourite settled into a good tempo alongside Astoria ($10), Mongolian Marshall ($4.40) and Weather With You ($21).
Levendi showed a terrific turn of foot to power away from the midfield as they turned into the straight and was good enough to hold on, winning on the line by a nose from Astoria and Weather With You.
Mark Zahra was ecstatic with the result and the performance of the horse.
“He didn’t make it easy for me. Halfway up the straight I thought he was complacent and happy running second, but I got stuck into him and he was strong over the line,” he said.
Levendi is currently available at Australian Derby odds of $12 in our early market.
