Humidor Too Good in 2018 Blamey Stakes

Humidor ($3) has flown home to win the 2018 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington racecourse this afternoon.

Jockey Mark Zahra opted to settle into the midfield, and had Humidor go through his gears on the turn towards the straight.

The stablemate of race favourite Tosen Stardom ($2.40) powered past Cool Chap ($18), Hellova Street ($4.40) and Odeon ($13) to claim an exciting win in a talent-rich field.

Trainer Darren Weir was more than happy with Humidor’s win.

“It’s a big win and he’s in for a good campaign, we expected him to work home like that,” he said.

Weir was excited by the Humidor’s preparations for the Doncaster.

“He will go onto the Doncaster, he’s had a great preparation towards that.”

“That’s been the plan all along and he looks like he’s on track for that.”

Jockey Mark Zahra was equally pleased with his run.

“We gotten him ticking along nicely and we’re excited by his preparation.”

Humidor has firmed into Doncaster Mile odds of $12 following the 2018 Blamey Stakes.
