I am Excited Continues Impressive Form Winning the Fireball Stakes

I Am Excited has continued its impressive form by winning the Group 2 Fireball Stakes (1100m) at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Jumping from the gates well, the race favourite settled off the pace at the tail of the field as Houtzen ($2.90), Shudabeen ($101), Za Zi Ba ($18) and Acqume ($17) battled for the lead up front.

Jockey Kerran McEvoy then produce the horse of the outside of the field and was greeted with a big turn of foot as the Snitzel filly flew home to beat an improved Acqume.

Aqume hit the line well to finish second, while flying filly Houtzen produced a credible performance to round out the placings.

Trainer David Pfieffer was happy with the performance and her development after the first-up win.

“I was very happy today, but I was worried it may have taken a bit out of her, but she didn’t show any signs of it during the week,” Pfeiffer said.

“She’s been working solidly during the week, and she really starting to develop.”

“I was comfortable throughout, Kerran tried to get out of the top of the straight and got her on the outside and let her be.”

Pfieffer is keen to see how she performs in the next race the Arrowfield Sprint at Randwick

I am Excited is currently available at $17 in our early Arrowfield Stakes Market.
