Cellarman is the 2018 Doncaster Prelude Winner

Cellarman ($5.50) has continued his outstanding run of form to storm home to win the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens this afternoon.

Jumping from the gates well, jockey Brenton Avdulla elected to settled off the leaders as Ecuador ($7.50) and Kingsguard ($8.50) set a fast tempo.

With a clear line upon arrival into the straight, Cellarman showed a terrific turn of foot to accelerate through the split and hit the line well from Ecuador ($7.50) and Mister Sea Wolf ($9.50).

Jockey Brenton Avdulla was delighted to get the Group 3 win.

It’s always good to ride a winner. It’s a tough time of year to get good rides but to get an opportunity for the leading stable and make the most of it is good,” he said.

Advdulla was equally impressed with Cellarman’s performance.

“I drew soft, so my job was pretty easy. I was able to find a spot and travel comfortably a few pairs back. He’s a horse who has a good turn of speed when he can use it. He accelerated through when the split opened up and he gave me an armchair ride.”

Trainer Chris Waller was happy with the win but he confirmed Cellarman won’t be riding in the Doncaster.
