T20 International Preview: Australia vs England

The Aussies will be out to continue their good form as they take on England at the MCG on Saturday. Australia’s BBL stars have shown they can step up to international level. D’Arcy Short continues to show glimpses of his BBL form. The opener enjoyed a longer stay at the crease in Hobart. Australian captain David Warner continues to be a concern for the Aussies. Warner has continued to struggle for runs but continues to impress with his captaincy.

England captain Eoin Morgan won’t be having his players change their game plan. England lost 6-30 in Hobart leaving them 35 runs shy of a competitive total.

England showed in Hobart that they won’t be taking a backward step with the bat. The English openers targeted the Aussie bowling attack in the opening overs.

The Melbourne game is the last chance for the home fans to see their side in action before the series across the Tasman. England will be hoping for a victory, while the Aussies will be looking for a perfect T20 record at home.

Ashton Agar will be a key weapon for the Aussies in their quest to do the double against England. The young all-rounder was able to apply the brakes to England’s innings in Hobart taking the key wickets of Hales and Billings to finish for 2-15. Australia may opt to stick with the same line-up and rely on the spin of Agar and Maxwell.

England will stick with the same line-up that lost to the Aussies in Hobart. Dawid Malan could be used as a second spinner. The England batsman impressed with his leg-spin during the Test series.

The Aussies will want to finish on a winning note at home before they take on the Kiwis in New Zealand.

Tip: Australia to win ($1.70)

Runscorer Markets

Glenn Maxwell will be looking to repeat his Michael Bevan moment on his home ground. Maxwell hit a six off the last ball to claim a century and lead Australia to victory. The mercurial Aussie all-rounder appears to have won over the doubters in his own side after seeing the Aussies to victory in Hobart.

Maxwell clubbed 103 off 58 balls, to pilot Australia to victory. At $7 Maxwell represents some excellent value to top the Aussie scorecard. Chris Lynn ($4) us at the top of the line to do some damage against the English. David Warner ($4) has the quality to turn things around with the bat and is due for a big score.

Tip: Back Glenn Maxwell to top score for Australia ($5)

England has been making all the right noises about their new approach to the game. Poor execution and quality Australian bowling in Hobart meant England’s innings crash landed in Hobart. Eoin Morgan will be looking for more from a top order that has proven to be devastating in the ODI series.

Dawid Malan ($4.50) showed his class top-scoring for England in Hobart. Jason Roy ($4) and Alex Hales ($4.50) can clear the rope. Jos Buttler ($5.50) showed in his immense talent in the ODI series with a stunning century. If Buttler comes in early then England are a chance of posting a massive total.

Tip: Jos Buttler to top score for England ($5.50)
