Super Cash Wins Rubiton Stakes In A Photo

Super Cash has flown home to beat evergreen veteran Flamberge in a photo finish to the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield this afternoon.

Super Cash’s first-up record is simply outstanding and she was subsequently our tip to win this race earlier in the week. Having opened at $7.50, punters came in hordes for the talented daughter of Written Tycoon and she jumped a $4.40 shot.

Flamberge flew the barriers and immediately took up the running this afternoon, but set only a fair tempo for his rivals and had it easy up front. Super Cash was locked away on the rail leading into the final straight and was forced to bide her time before a run eventually appeared.

Setting about the task of running down the three-time Group 1 winner, Super Cash dug deep and mustered her trademark fresh sprint to begin her autumn campaign in the best way possible.

Jockey Craig Williams pleased with the horse’s performance and was quick to lay all the praise on his classy mount and the training efforts of Andrew Noblet.

“She’s a beautiful horse and it just shows the horsemanship of Andrew Noblet and his team, because she’s a beautiful mare,”

“I was confident on her. I had to sit and wait but once we got the gap on her, she was really, really good.

“Its just been great management from them and she’s a delight to ride. Once I got the room I was able to manoeuvre, and she had a great acceleration.”

Noblet was thrilled that Super Cash was able to keep her impressive fresh record in tact with this afternoon’s win in the Rubiton Stakes.

“It was great effort today, she was waiting on a run there and got it in the end and had a bit of luck,”

“Gee she’s a good horse fresh and we were really confident she’d run well today, she looks super. Well done to the whole team at home, it takes a lot to get her here.

“With this fresh form, I think we’ll just go straight to the Sangster. We’ll give her a little freshen-up again, give her a little quiet time and get her ready for the Group 1 in Adelaide and go from there.”

The Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) will not be run and won until the 5th of May, but Super Cash is currently rated a $12 shot in early betting.
