There has been just two dual The Goodwood champions with Musket Belle (1911–12) and Mostyn (1894–95) going back-to-back in the six-furlong feature.
The 1998 The Goodwood winner Spectrum holds the race record winning in a time of 1 minute 08.33 seconds.
The 2022 The Goodwood winner Lombardo ($18) enjoyed an upset 1.5 length win for Victorian trainers Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr who also took out that year’s SA Derby.
In 2023 The Goodwood winner Royal Merchant backed-up from a Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes victory over her fellow three-year-olds to become the first filly to salute in the race since Lone Rock (2011). The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained youngster was an upset The Goodwood winner at $18 odds and led an all-girls trifecta when defeating Robert Sangster place-getters Another Award (2nd) and Zapateo (3rd) who repeated their Group 1 placings.
The 2024 The Goodwood winner was the Jason Warren-trained Hellbent mare Benedetta ($6) who won by a head on the line improving on her Robert Sangster Stakes third to earn a trip to Brisbane targeting the Stradbroke Handicap thanks to a gun ride by Ms Jamie Kah.
