Run over 1,200 metres, the Ramornie Handicap is a Listed race taking place at Grafton Racecourse and is the Clarence River Jockey Club’s premier sprint race. With a $200,000 prize purse, it attracts its share of mainly Queensland and New South Wales-trained sprinters coming off similar class races over the winter.
The Ramornie Handicap offers the winner a ballot exemption into the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) held at Newcastle Racecourse in September.

The race was inaugurated in 1910 as the Newcastle Handicap before being renamed to the Ramornie in 1917.
Co-trainer Peter Snowden celebrated his record sixth Ramornie Handicap win in 2024 with upset champion Ka Bling.

The 2024 Ramornie Handicap winner was five-year-old Capitalist gelding, Ka Bling, trained out of Sydney by Peter & Paul Snowden. Ka Bling won the Ramornie Handicap in an upset by 0.27 lengths at odds of $19. He was ridden up the middle in the closing stages to storm home with Andrew Adkins in the saddle on 56kg in a time of f1 minute 8.69 seconds. The Ramornie Handicap 2024 result saw Peter Snowden claim the race for a sixth time.
