Rashlore was the inaugural Kingsford Smith Cup winner back in 1964 when the event first ran as the J.T. Delaney Quality Handicap (1964-1982).

The former BTC Cup race over 1200m was changed to the Kingsford Smith Cup in 2017 with an amended venue, date and distance.
A number of notable sprinters won the event when it ran as the BTC Cup including Apache Cat (2008) and the undefeated queen of the turf, Black Caviar (2011).
Black Caviar (2011) is also the last Kingsford Smith Cup winning mare.
Your Song (2013) was the last three-year-old Kingsford Smith Cup winner, while the last filly to win was Sea Siren (2012) the previous year.
There have been two dual Kingsford Smith Cup winners throughout history with Falvelon (2000, 2003) and Buck’s Pride (1993, 1994) both saluting in the event twice.
The Bostonian holds the current Kingsford Smith Cup record over the 1300m winning in 2001 in at time of 1 minute 15:51 seconds.
The first official Kingsford Smith Cup winner of the new-look race was Clearly Innocent.
The 2022 Kingsford Smith Cup winner Apache Chase handed local trainer Desleigh Forster her first Group 1 victory with a narrow all-the-way upset win over the Godolphin-raced three-year-old Paulele.
The Kingsford Smith Cup 2023 winner was the Joe Pride-trained four-year-old Think About It ($5.50) who took his improving record up to eight wins from nine starts with a big victory in his Group 1 debut.
After winning the 2023 Kingsford Smith Cup, Think About It went on to claim the Stradbroke Handicap at his next start before returning to Sydney for huge spring headlined by a win in the world’s richest turf race – The Everest.
The 2024 Kingsford Smith Cup winner was the Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained I Wish I Win ($3.90 EF) who improved on his lead-up Doomben 10,000 second to turn the tables on Bella Nipotina in a reverse order of the quinella.
Note: There was no race held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
