Futurity Stakes

Futurity Stakes, Caulfield Racecourse

Looking for early info on this year’s Futurity Stakes? The expert tipsters at Neds have put together everything you need to know before this year’s race.

Run over 1,400 metres in late February as part of Blue Diamond Stakes Day, the Futurity Stakes is a Group 1 race, held at Caulfield Racecourse. With a half million dollar prize purse, the event is one of three elite level races at the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival meeting that is headlined by the two-year-olds running in the Group 1 $1.5 million Neds Blue Diamond Stakes.

The Futurity Stakes is a weight-for-age event and serves as a nice next-up option for horses out of the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes held at the same track and distance a fortnight earlier. Black Heart Bart (2017) was the last runner to complete the CF Orr – Futurity Stakes double in the same year.

The best out of the Futurity Stakes may continue onto the newly created $5 million The All-Star Mile (1600m) held at various racetracks throughout Melbourne in March.
