Festival Stakes

Festival Stakes, Rosehill Racecourse

A part of the ATC Summer fixture since 1948, the Festival Stakes is run at just a touch under a mile. Newly minted as a Group 3 race, it is started to gain a reputation as a Summer staple.

Looking for a good lead in race to this one? The 1400 metre Chatham Stakes is a great one to pick.

If a horse does well in the Festival Stakes, it’s likely you’ll also see them entered into the Villiers Stakes a couple of weeks later.

Which Horse Will Win The Festival Stakes

The best way to pick who will win the Festival Stakes is to take into account the form, assess the barriers, consider the weight the horse will carry, among other factors.

Additional factors to take into considerations are as follows:

  • Unknown Entrants – The field can often be full of a lot of horses which haven’t seen that much track time. You may have to dig deeper than simply picking a horse that won at the same distance a few weeks back.
  • Barrier Trials – One way of determining a relatively unknown entrant can perform at the distance is to research Racing NSW’s barrier trials.
