Run over 1,200 metres in early February, the Eskimo Prince Stakes attracts a quality line-up of three-year-old horses that may be heading towards the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) later in the autumn.
Kementari (2018) was the last horse to do the Eskimo Prince Stakes – Randwick Guineas double as a three-year-old. The 2022 Eskimo Prince Stakes third placed Converge improved on his Group 3 placing to win that year’s Randwick Guineas before a second in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m).
Starting out as a Listed Race, this race was upgraded to Group 3 in 2015. The race has had a varied history of being held at several racecourses, such as Canterbury Park, Rosehill Gardens, Randwick and Warwick Farm.
The 2020 Eskimo Prince Stakes was abandoned and not rescheduled with the Warwick Farm race program cancelled due to heavy rainfall and the state of the track.
For 2021 edition, the event took place back at Royal Randwick Racecourse for the first time since 2017.
