The Chairman’s Quality is one of the key support races on Doncaster Mile Day, which is officially Day 1 of Sydney’s ‘The Championships’ held at Royal Randwick each April during the autumn carnival.
A Group 2 event for stayers, the race takes place over 2600m and serves as a potential final lead-up into the following weekend’s Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) over the two miles. The Offer (2014) was the last galloper to complete the Chairman’s Quality – Sydney Cup double on the quick back-up.
Most recently the 2022 Chairman’s Quality runner-up Knights Order improved to win the Sydney Cup next start as well as run third that October in the spring’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) in Victoria.
Contested as a quality handicap event, the Chairman’s Quality has been run and won since 1979 and offers $300,000 in prize money.

The 2024 Chairman’s Quality takes place on Day 1 of ‘The Championships’ at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday the 6th of April, 2024. There are four Group 1 races in total held that day at the track with the running of the:
- Group 1 $4 million Doncaster Mile (1600m),
- Group 1 $3 million T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m),
- Group 1 $2 million Australian Derby (2400m), and the
