Neds Caulfield Stakes
Now known as the Neds Might And Power Stakes and recently registered as the Ladbrokes Stakes for sponsorship purposes, the Caulfield Stakes is a Group 1 race, run over 2000 metres at Caulfield during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. As such, it serves as a good lead in for the Caulfield Cup, as well as the Cox Plate.
The Caulfield Stakes is part of the huge Caulfield Guineas Day card in October that features three Group 1 events.
A weight-for-age race offering $1 million in prize money, the Caulfield Stakes is considered a key lead-up into the Australasian weight-for-age championship race – the Cox Plate – run at Moonee Valley at the end of October.
Nine horses have completed the Caulfield Stakes – W.S. Cox Plate double throughout history with: Tranquil Star (1942), Rising Fast (1954), Kingston Town (1981-2), Bonecrusher (1986), Might and Power (1998), Northerly (2001), So You Think (2010), Ocean Park (2012) and most recently the champion mare Winx (2016).
Another potential option for Caulfield Stakes horses is Flemington’s Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) held on the last day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival with Arcadia Queen (2020) the last to do the double.

WHICH HORSE WILL WIN THE neds STAKES IN 2021?
Which horse will win the 2021 Caulfield Stakes comes down to a number of key form factors including the barriers, form over the 2000m distance, recent Melbourne lead-up runs and their previous Group 1 race experience.
When selecting the Caulfield Stakes winner it is also important to consider:
