Breeders Classic
Looking for early info on this year’s Breeders Classic? The experts at Neds have put together everything you need to know before this year’s race.
Run over 1,200 metres in February each year, the Breeders Classic is a Group 2 race, held during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. With a $200,000 prize purse, it attracts some of the best local mares aged 4 years or older.
This race serves as a nice little lead in to the Coolmore Classic, which takes place later on in the Autumn racing season.
The races status has always been on an incline. A Listed Race for its first nine years, it upgraded to Group 3 in 2006, which lasted for two years, until it was made a Group 2 race.

Which Horse Will Win The Breeders Classic
The best way to pick who will win the Breeders Classic is to take into account the form, assess the barriers, consider the weight the horse will carry, among other factors.
Additional factors to take into considerations are as follows:
- Cup Defenders – It’s not uncommon to see last year’s champion claim back to back wins. If last year’s winner is in the field, certainly consider them amongst against all of the usual factors.
- Local Legends – Apart from looking at those who have done well at a similar distance at Warwick Farm, you should also look to recent races at Randwick.
